The IRIS indicator measures the efficiency and effectiveness with which matriculated students at the University of Genoa pass their first year exams.

In particular, IRIS measures the ratio between the result achieved by the student and the maximum result expected in his or her Area.

The IRIS indicator should not be given any meaning beyond that, which it actually has, of "objective representation" of the average performance of students at the end of their initial year in the 11 Areas of the University.

In the publication, for each Area and for the Athenaeum as a whole, only the results relating to the secondary schools from which the largest number of freshmen come are given. The IRIS figures are available to interested parties at the Guidance, Career Service and Inclusion Service,  p.za della Nunziata 6, Genoa.
