Coronavirus

Following on what was already communicated on 28 February 2020, we would like to remind all UniGe staff and students that the recommendations and instructions issued by the Institutions responsible for the protection of public health, updated in relation to the evolution of the epidemiological scenario, must be respected

You can find all the updates in the useful links.

In the attached PDF you can find information, found on the website of the Ministry of Health, related to:

  • the virus and the disease
  • the symptoms
  • the way of transmission
  • hand and surface hygiene
  • the use of masks

Below are the hygiene and protection measures that must be observed (read Annex 1 of Decreto del Presidente del Consiglio dei Ministri, March 8, 2020):

  • wash your hands often with soap and water or alcohol-based gel - brochure of the Ministry of Health "Prevent infections with proper hand washing" link http://www.salute.gov.it/imgs/C_17_opuscoliPoster_340_allegato.pdf
  • avoid close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections
  • hugs and handshakes
  • maintain, in social contacts, an interpersonal distance of at least one meter
  • respiratory hygiene (sneeze and/or cough in a handkerchief, avoiding hand contact with respiratory secretions)
  • avoid the promiscuous use of bottles and glasses
  • don't touch your eyes, nose and mouth with your hands
  • cover your mouth and nose if you sneeze or cough
  • don't take antiviral medicines and antibiotics unless prescribed by your doctor
  • clean surfaces with chlorine or alcohol-based disinfectants
  • use the mask only if you suspect that you are sick or if you are caring for people who are ill

We also recommend you the following measures:

  • obligation to remain at home in the presence of symptoms of acute respiratory infection - flu-like (e.g. fever, cough, breathing difficulties) and to call your family doctor and health authority (112)
  • prohibition to go to or stay at in UniGe
  • obligation to inform the employer and referent of the presence of any symptoms of acute respiratory infection/flu-like during work, taking care to stay at an adequate distance from people
  • in case of suspicious case COVID-19, while awaiting the arrival of the medical staff:
  • avoid close contact with the suspicious case
  • if available, provide the suspected case of a surgical-type mask
  • wash your hands carefully. Pay particular attention to surfaces that may have come into contact with body fluids of the suspect case(e.g., respiratory secretions)
  • remove the paper handkerchiefs used by the suspect case in a waterproof bag

For all aspects relating to health protection, we want to inform you that UniGe's Health Surveillance and Occupational Medicine and Hygiene and Preventive Medicine Services continue to be fully available, as far as they are concerned, to guarantee information and technical-scientific help on the COVID-19 issue.
