gender language

In an ever-changing society, it is crucial for the university institution to position itself as an agent of change by embracing nonsexist and nondiscriminatory language. The publication of the Guidelines for the Use of Inclusive Language represents an opportunity for awareness raising by all university constituents, in the context of a larger effort to create a truly inclusive learning and working environment that is attentive to recognizing and removing all discrimination, starting with gender discrimination.

The text, available (only in italian) in the appendix and at the useful link, responds to the commitment made by the University of Genoa in two strategic documents: the Positive Action Plan (Action 24: Raising Awareness of the Non-Gendered Use of Institutional Language) and the Gender Equality Plan (Action 0.1: Adoption of Gender Respectful Institutional and Administrative Language).
