Matteo Bassetti, director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic at the IRCCS Policlinico San Martino Hospital in Genoa and director of the School of Specialization in Infectious Diseases at the University of Genoa, has been appointed spokesperson for the Italian Scientists Association (ISA), an association whose members include nearly 200 full professors from all Italian universities.

The appointment to ISA was signed by the association's president, Antonio Felice Uricchio.

Professor Bassetti commented: «I can only say thank you for this prestigious recognition that repays the much work done by the group I have the honor of coordinating at the San Martino Infectious Diseases Clinic. Being a professor at the School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Genoa means always being on the side of the patient, without forgetting the importance of teaching and research. I want to say thank you to the teachings of the masters of Genoese infectiology who have always taken this subject to the highest Italian and world levels. This recognition is dedicated to them».
