Documents to attach to the Universitaly application

Mandatory documents

  • Passport;
  • Photo;
  • Title obtained (final or provisional certificate) or in the process of being obtained. If you have not yet obtained your title, you will need to submit a letter from your institution with the presumed date of obtaining your qualification, i.e. your diploma (if you want to enroll in a degree program) or your degree (if you want to enroll in a master's degree). In case of access to bachelor's degrees or single-cycle 5-6 year degrees, if you have not yet completed your studies: attach your final year report card. If you have to access to master's degrees, if you have not yet completed your studies: attach the transcript of records.
  • Transcript of records (for access to master's degrees): the list of exams taken with an indication of credits and grades. If you don't have the final transcript yet, attach the University-stamped document with a list of exams up to the most recent semester. For students from countries with ongoing conflicts who do not yet have the final or provisional degree or letter from the University, it may be sufficient to present the transcript of records which shows that the degree has been obtained or that the exams have been passed up to the most recent semester.
  • Supplementary documents to the high school diploma (for access to bachelor's degrees or single-cycle 5-6 year degrees): if the total schooling in the country that awarded the qualification is less than 12 years, the documents must be submitted to fill the missing years.
  • Official translation of documents: mandatory if the original documents are not in Italian, English, French, Spanish or Portuguese.

Optional documents

  • Certificate of proficiency in the Italian or English language (depending on the course you choose, if taught in Italian or English you can attach the certificate consistent with your choice) or letter attesting that the medium of instruction (MOI) for obtaining the title was Italian or English, depending on the course you are applying for. The certificate must be one of those recognized by UniGe, otherwise it will not be considered valid. If in possession, it is strongly recommended to upload the document.
    • For open access courses taught in Italian: presenting the certificate recognized by Unige at level B2 on Universitaly may result in full approval with the removal of the reserve, if the conditionally acceptance was due exclusively to the language certificate.
    • Check the Italian language certificates recognized by Unige on the dedicated page.
    • Please note that for open access courses taught in Italian, if you do not present a recognized certificate of knowledge of the Italian language at level B2 (a higher level may be required for master's degree courses in the field of languages) that can be uploaded from the dedicated page or you fail the Italian language test (in person, after arriving in Italy), it will not be possible to register for the course.
  • Declaration of Value (DOV), or certificate of comparability issued by CIMEA - Information Centre Mobility Academic Equivalences or Diploma Supplement. If you already have it, we recommend that you also attach one of the three documents to your Universitaly application. The lack of such a document, at this level, will not compromise the forwarding of your application to the embassy. The application will be equally validated by Unige.
    • For further details regarding the Certificate of Comparability and Certificate of Verification issued by CIMEA, we recommend consulting this link: cimea-diplome.it

Always remember that you can contact the Italian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence for the translation and legalization of your qualification and for the issuance of the Declaration of Value (DOV).
