Renunciation of studies If you wish to renounce your studies, you can do so at any time.You must submit your application via the student online services, by identifying the career applications.Following the indications suggested by the procedure, it is also possible to make online payment of the stamp duty of 16 euros. N.B. To renounce, you will have to settle any contribution debt accrued at the date of the formal request to renounce.EXEMPTION: if a student, enrolled in the a.a. 2025/2026, decides to withdraw from studies in February 2026, in order for the withdrawal request to be accepted and the 16-euro form to be generated, he or she must be already up to date with contributions already due, i.e. with payment of the first and second instalments for the academic year in question.The student will instead be exempt from payment of the third instalment, since its ordinary due date is after the date of submission of the waiver request.Withdrawal from studies, once formalised by payment of the stamp duty, constitutes an irrevocable act and the university career cannot under any circumstances be reactivated.If you subsequently intend to begin a new course of study, you must enrol ex novo in a course of study at the University of Genoa. In this case, you may request the evaluation of the examinations taken in the renounced career, subject to payment of a fixed contribution to cover costs, in accordance with the provisions of Article 18 of the Regulations on Student Contributions and University Benefits. For further clarification, please contact the Student counter for the course of interest Interruption of studies Interruption of studies If you intend to temporarily interrupt your studies, with the possible intention of resuming them in the future, or if you have not yet decided whether to proceed with a definitive withdrawal, you do not need to renew your enrolment for the following academic year. In this case no formal application is required, it being understood that you must be in good standing with all university contributions up to the last academic year in which you are formally enrolled.ExAMPLE:If a student, enrolled for the a.a. 2025/2026, decides to interrupt his or her career in February 2026, he or she must pay the entire contribution due for that year, including the third instalment, even if the due date is later than the date on which the student decides to interrupt his or her studies.
