Information on the processing of personal data

This information is provided pursuant to Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).

In accordance with the regulations indicated, this processing will be based on the principles of correctness, lawfulness and transparency and the protection of your confidentiality and rights.

Data controller

The Data controller (Titolare del trattamento) is Università di Genova in the person of its Rector, the pro tempore legal representative.

The Data controller, aware of the importance of adopting policies for the protection of personal data processed in the exercise of its institutional duties, undertakes to carry out the treatment in application of the principles of lawfulness, correctness, transparency, purpose limitation, data minimization, accuracy, storage limitation, integrity, confidentiality and accountability.

Purpose of processing

The personal data provided by users are used solely for the purposes of the institutional activity carried out within the University of Genoa (UniGe).

Methods of data processing

Personal data is processed using automated tools for the time strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was collected. Appropriate security measures are observed to prevent the loss of data, unlawful or incorrect use and unauthorised access.

Data supervisor

If necessary, for activities related to the maintenance and operation of the technological part of the site, the data collected from UniGe sites may be processed by the data controllers, appointed in writing by the owner or the referents, which identifies the nature, purpose and duration of the treatment, the type of personal data processed and the categories of data subjects, and defines the obligations of the controller, in compliance with the provisions of art. 28, par. 3, of the GDPR.

Rights of the interested party

You have the right to obtain information and access to the processing of your personal data, to obtain confirmation of their existence, to verify their accuracy, to request their integration, updating, change, limitation, revocation of consent, opposition or cancellation.

Types of data processed

Navigation data

During the navigation of the users on the UniGe websites, some navigation data are acquired whose transmission is implicit in the use of Internet communication protocols.

Personal data is stored for a period of time limited to the minimum necessary. The data could be used to ascertain the responsibility of users in the event of possible offences.

Personal data

The voluntary and explicit transmission of personal data, including the e-mail address, requested in the web services connected with the site, entails the subsequent acquisition of such data for the purpose of answering/responding to users' requests and managing the web services themselves.

Applicability

The present information applies to the websites managed by the University of Genoa and not to the applications distributed through the web.

The websites managed by the departments, centres and other peripheral structures of the University of Genoa may define their own policy on the use of cookies.

UniGe Cookies

UniGe websites make use of cookies that are strictly necessary to allow:

  • the navigation and use of the website
  • the collection of information, in aggregate form, on the number of users and how they visit the site ("analytics cookies")
  • browsing according to a set of selected criteria (e.g. language, "functionality cookies") in order to improve the service provided to the website.

These cookies are not used for any purpose other than the functional purposes described above and therefore their installation does not require the users' consent.

UniGe websites use Google Analytics, a data analysis service provided by Google, in order to improve the usability of web services and communication with users, to assess the level of internationalisation and to promote institutional activities according to the different communication targets.
Google may transfer the collected data to third parties where required by law. The data is collected only for institutional purposes and can never be transferred for commercial purposes.
