The school of specialisation represents a postgraduate professional training course that aims to provide knowledge and skills for the performance of highly qualified functions, required for the exercise of particular professional activities (Ministerial Decree 270/2004). Specialisation schools belong to the third-cycle university studies; they can be accessed with a master's degree, a specialist degree or a degree awarded under the previous system. In some cases, a professional qualification is also required. The didactic regulations of each school establish the duration of the course of study, admission requirements, training activities and educational objectives. At the end of the course, a specialisation diploma is awarded.
