3rd Call for Applications 2026

Please read this page and the Call for Applications No. 3, 2026 

The call for applications has been published for 377 curricular placements at the following types of MAECI offices: Embassies, Permanent Representations to the United Nations, Consulates, Delegations and Italian Cultural Institutes
(IIC).

Internship period: 11 January – 9 April 2027

Please note: some internships may only be carried out remotely. The delivery method is indicated in a specific column of the list of offers and is also included in the code for each offer (to be entered in the application), with the wording ‘ON-SITE’ or ‘REMOTE’. 

If the placement is carried out via flexible remote working, no reimbursement of expenses will be granted for the relevant months.
The internship offer and its delivery method may be subject to change during and after the publication of the call for applications.

Please note: the call for applications is open only to students with Italian citizenship.

Please note – compatibility with your degree programme

Given that the call for applications specifies that at least 3 CFU must be recognised for the work carried out, before submitting their application, candidates must check with their degree programme to ensure that the activities envisaged by the placement are compatible with and consistent with their study plan and with other ongoing learning experiences.

Application procedure and deadline

Interested candidates may submit their applications exclusively online within the timeframe and in accordance with the procedures set out by the CRUI Foundation

Please read and follow carefully the section entitled ‘Application procedures’ contained within the Call for Applications.

Applicants must hold student status at the time of application and maintain it for the entire duration of the placement, failing which they will be excluded.

Applications containing errors or omissions will be excluded. 

Deadline for submitting applications: 5.00 pm on 28 September 2026

Knowledge of English

The applicant will be deemed to have adequate knowledge of English at CEFR level B2 if:

  • they have obtained one of the certificates issued by a body recognised by AICLU  . The CRUI Foundation also accepts C2 certificates from Cambridge and Trinity College, which are not included in the list
  • holds an English Language Certificate issued by the Language Centre of the University of Genoa, stating a level of proficiency equal to or higher than B2
  • is a student at the University of Genoa and has sat an English language examination, the successful completion of which demonstrates a level of proficiency equal to or higher than B2

Candidates who do not meet any of the conditions listed above must demonstrate the required language proficiency by passing a specific test. The test will take place on 1 October at 8.00 am in the Poli lecture theatre (formerly CLAT) – Albergo dei Poveri.  Candidates required to sit the test will receive a specific notification by email to the address provided on their application form. Failure to attend the test will be considered a withdrawal of the application to the Programme, regardless of the reason. Candidates who, through the test, demonstrate a level of English language proficiency below that required will not be admitted to the next stage of the selection process.

Verification of entry requirements

The University of Genoa must verify that candidates meet the entry requirements they have declared. Applications that do not meet all the requirements set out in the call for applications and/or are incorrect or incomplete will not be validated and, therefore, will not be admitted to the final selection stage.

Duration of the placement

The placement lasts for 3 months and may be extended by 1.

Financial support (not provided for remote placements)

The placement provides:

  1. a monthly lump-sum reimbursement of expenses incurred, as set out below:

    • €700 where ISEEU ≤ 13,000 euros
    • €630 with 13,000 < ISEEU ≤ 21,000
    • €560 with 21,000 < ISEEU ≤ 26,000
    • €490 with 26,000 < ISEEU ≤ 30,000
    • €450 with 30,000 < ISEEU ≤ 40,000
    • €420 with 40,000 < ISEEU

    The grant will be paid in two instalments: the first, amounting to 50 per cent of the total sum allocated for a 3-month placement, following the start of the placement; the second, as a final payment, following the conclusion of the placement. In the event of the internship being interrupted, the student is still entitled to reimbursement of expenses as set out under the heading ‘Reimbursement of expenses’, for the period during which the internship was actually carried out. The award of ECTS credits is based on the number of days the placement was actually undertaken.

  2. The University of Genoa has also decided to award an additional lump-sum grant to students at the University of Genoa who have successfully completed their work placement and whose ISEEU score does not exceed €65,000, in the amounts set out below:
    • €1,500 for an ISEEU of ≤ 10,000 euros
    • €1,000 with 10,000 < ISEEU ≤ 25,000
    • €   800 with 25,000 < ISEEU ≤ 50,000
    • €   600 with 50,000 < ISEEU ≤ 65,000

Applicants are invited to find out about the requirements – including health-related requirements – and the documentation required for their stay in the country of destination, if any, with particular reference to the timeframes and costs involved in obtaining an entry visa (e.g. student visa, work placement visa, etc.), where necessary. Should they be successful in the selection process, candidates must act promptly and fulfil the relevant requirements to ensure the internship commences as scheduled during the planned period.
