A.A. 2026/27: steps for enrollment

STEP 1 - UNIVERSITALY

Mandatory documents

  •  Passport;
  • Passport photo;
  • Qualification obtained (final or provisional certificate) or in the process of being obtained. If you have not yet obtained your diploma, you will need to submit your institution's letter with the expected date of obtaining your title. If you haven't completed your studies yet: attach your final year report card. The final qualification must be obtained by 15 August of the relevant academic year.

Optional documents

  • In case of choice of a Bachelor's degree taught in English: certificate of knowledge of the English language (level B2). Alternatively: a letter certifying that the medium of instruction (MOI) for obtaining the title was English. The certificate must be one of those recognized by UniGe, otherwise it will not be considered valid. If in possession it is strongly recommended to upload the document.
  • Report card of the last three years.

Information

  • Submitting your visa application on the ministerial portal outside Unige (Universitaly) is mandatory for all courses.
  • Check the dates on the deadlines page for the relevant academic year. Applications submitted before opening and after the deadline will be rejected.
  • Enter your personal data exactly as shown in your passport. If you have multiple first and/or last names marked in your passport, enter them all in the correct order. If the first or last name entry is empty in your passport, fill it out using an “X”.
  • The University of Genoa will validate your application and forward it to the Embassy if the application is deemed complete.
  • For technical issues related to the operation of universitaly.it and logging issues, please refer to Universitaly support.
  • Remember: on Universitaly you will only be able to choose one Italian university and one course.
  • Once you have submitted your application, if you decide to change Universities, you will have to request cancellation (i.e. rejection of your application by the University for which you submitted your application). If you ask Unige to reject your already submitted application: send an email to sass@unige.it, email subject: Universitaly cancellation request for University change. Remember to attach your passport, which is required to obtain cancellation.

STEP 2 - PRE-ENROLLMENT

Pre-enrollment may take place after the application is submitted on Universitaly.
You can apply for pre-enrollment on Unige Online Services in the following cases:

Submit the application

Attention:

  • Do not try to make multiple registrations for the same user.
  • Incorrect personal data entry can cause a slowdown in the service offered and the inability to proceed with saving applications on Online Services.
  • If you need: password recovery, change your email address, other actions related to your UniGePass credentials, consult the dedicated pages. For UniGePass credential issues, please contact technical support: help@studenti.unige.it

Read the following notes carefully for proper compilation:

  • Click “submit a new application” to get started.
  • Courses Section: The chosen course must coincide with the application submitted on Universitaly. Information for all students: In case of a single-cycle 5-6 year degree or bachelor's degree, mark in the options of “exemption check” > no exemption. In case of a master's degree, mark in the options of “date verification” > select the first available date; “curriculum requirements” > to be verified; “exemption verification” > no exemption.
  • Registry Section: As a student applying for a visa, you will need to check the following option: “I declare that I have applied for a visa for this academic year on the ministerial portal Universitaly.it”. If this is not true, be sure to submit your Universitaly application first and then proceed with your pre-registration application.

If when viewing your application, all the sections in the top row are no longer red, the information is complete and you can save your pre-enrollment.

Check the status of your application: if it is "complete", the application is submitted correctly, no action is required.

Please note: you will always receive an automatic email notifying you that the data saving action you performed on your pre-enrollment application was successful.
