SensusAccess is a one-stop self-service, alternate media and document remediation service for educational institutions. 

SensusAccess convert documents into a range of alternate media including audio books (MP3 and DAISY), e-books (EPUB, EPUB3 and Mobi), digital Braille.

The service can also remediate inaccessible documents such as image-only PDF files, JPG pictures, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.

The conversion process consists of three steps:

  1. Upload (uploading) the original file: various formats are supported, including TXT, DOC, PDF, PPT, JPEG, ePub and HTML.
  2. Choice of desired format such as MP3, eBook, Braille, accessible version of Word files, PDF, HTML, TXT.
  3. Receive by e-mail the converted and accessible file or the link to download the file if it is large. The converted document will be deleted from the SensusAccess server after 7 days.

Terms of use

Use of the service is subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. the service is provided strictly for educational, didactic and non-commercial use;
  2. the user is responsible for violations of copyright and intellectual property rights (copyright);
  3. the user is authorised to use the converted document in an accessible format for personal use only;
  4. the University of Genoa and Sensus ApS will not be responsible for the use of the service that does not comply with the established conditions;
  5. not use the service for sending and exchanging confidential information.

SensusAccess is an online platform for converting documents into accessible formats.

SensusAccess allows you to automatically convert documents into various alternative formats: MP3 and DAISY format audio books, EPub, Epub3 and Mobi format eBooks and digital Braille.

The service can also be used to convert inaccessible documents such as PDF image files, JPEGs and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations into more accessible or simplified formats.

    3. Receive by e-mail the converted and accessible file or the link to download (download) the file if it is large. The converted document will be deleted from the SensusAccess server after 7 days. 

In the case of MP3 audio format, the system converts the document taking punctuation into account and adding the necessary pauses. The desired language and playback speed must be selected; all major European languages are supported, as well as Russian, Arabic, Chinese, Korean and Japanese.

Conditions of Use

Use of the service is subject to the following terms and conditions:

  1. the service is provided solely for educational, instructional and non-commercial use;
  2. the user is responsible for violations of copyright and intellectual property (copyright) laws;
  3. the user is authorized to use the converted document in an accessible format for personal use only;
  4. the University of Genoa as the purchaser of the three-year user license and the provider Sensus ApS shall not be held liable for any use of the service by the user that does not comply with the terms and conditions set forth;
  5. do not use the service for sending or exchanging confidential information
