Interuniversity Center on Interactions between Electromagnetic Fields and Biosystems (ICEmB)

Purposes

a)      to promote, support and coordinate basic and applied studies and research in the field of interactions between electromagnetic fields and biosystems, at the molecular, cellular and organism level;

b)     to promote scientific debate and related publications, and to offer adequate support to teaching in the field;

c)      stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration initiatives between the member universities with other university departments and facilities, with national and international research organizations, with operating units established in public and private entities and regulated by appropriate scientific collaboration agreements;

d)     organize courses, seminars, activities and refresher courses, study conferences and scientific dissemination initiatives, in compliance with current regulations;

e)      rationalize the utilization of existing equipment and work in a coordinated manner for the acquisition of important and particularly expensive equipment in common use;

f)       stimulate activities aimed at the training of scientific workers in the aforementioned fields;

g)     promote the potential external use of all expertise in the Center, including advice on problems concerning protection from electromagnetic fields and related regulations;

h)     establish research awards or grants to achieve the purposes of the Center;

i)       foster technology transfer to enterprises, through the elaboration of joint development projects and through appropriate contracts.
