09/07/2025 From June 29 to July 4, 2025, a team of 6 master's students in Robotics Engineering, supported by two PhD students and one research fellow from the course coordinator's lab, participated in the RAMI challenge held in La Spezia, at the NATO CMRE center. The team spent 6 days working hard, in boiling hot weather, to execute the tasks requested by the challenge. This effort alone is worth a lot of praise! The challenge encompassed three benchmarks: one on pipeline inspection, one on manipulation, and a final one involving both. The involved teams were from UniFi ISME, UniPi ISME, Girona, and Hogeschool Utrecht.UniGe team managed to score third in the first benchmark, first in the manipulation one, and second with equal merit with another team on the third one! Overall, achieving second place. An extraordinary result, considering it was their debut in this competition. For this reason, the team won the best rookie award!Congratulations to the winning team, UniFi, and all the participants! Also, thanks to all the organisers, to CMRE for hosting the event, and especially to Gabriele Ferri! A really nice event and an excellent opportunity for the students to work in a team and appreciate the difficulties, but also the rewarding moments this field can give you!Congratulations to all the UniGe ISME team members:Youssef Attia, Samuele Depalo, Luca Tarasi, Mazen Madbouly, Marco Petrosilli, Paolo Laishram, Mahmoud Elasmar, Mamoru Ota, Davide Tonelli.
