un aereo sulla città

A team of researchers from the University of Genoa and the CASD - Scuola Superiore Universitaria di Roma, in collaboration with the Cyber-Defence Campus in Thun (Switzerland), as part of the research activities of the PNRR SERICS (Security and Rights in the Cyberspace) partnership, has identified two dangerous vulnerabilities in the Air Collision Avoidance System (TCAS) adopted by civil aircraft.

By exploiting these vulnerabilities in the same certified equipment in use on commercial aircraft, the team was able to trigger false collision alarms in the cockpit and disable a critical function of the TCAS system.

In response to this discovery, the US Federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) issued an initial security bulletin in January 2025.
