Under the East Antarctic Ice Sheet, more than 3 kilometres thick in some areas, lies a vast geological structure that has remained unknown until now. It was identified by an international team coordinated by the University of Genoa, in a study published in Nature Geoscience, one of the most authoritative international scientific journals in the field of Earth Sciences. 
The publication has as its first author Egidio Armadillo, UniGe lecturer in Applied Geophysics.
