A new publication in the journal Scientific Reports (Nature Portfolio) presents the results of the international project PNRA-BOST (Bridging Onshore-Offshore STructures at the Pacific Coast of North Victoria Land, Antarctica).
Research has revealed the existence of active submarine volcanic chains, ancient submerged glacial valleys and deep faults off Victoria Land in Antarctica, which have caused the continental crust to break apart.
These discoveries provide crucial new elements for reconstructing the interactions between the tectonic and climatic evolution of the Antarctic continent.
