A study on collaboration between humans and robots in an industrial setting has received the Best Paper Award at the international conference IEEE RO-MAN 2026 – International Conference on Robot and Human Interactive Communication, held in Kitakyushu, Japan.

The paper, entitled A Multidimensional Study in an Automotive Assembly Scenario with Exoskeletons and Cobots, analyses the interaction between people, exoskeletons and collaborative robots (cobots) in an automotive assembly scenario.

The study was authored by Simone Borelli, Giorgio Cannata, Pedro Luis Figueroa Saire and Francesco Giovinazzo from the University of Genoa, by Francesco Grella from the University of Luxembourg, and by Sofia Morandini and Federico Fraboni from the University of Bologna.

This research is one of the outcomes of the Horizon Europe project SESTOSENSO – Physical Cognition for Intelligent Control and Safe Human-Robot Interaction, funded by the European Commission and coordinated by Giorgio Cannata, Professor of Control Engineering at the University of Genoa.
