On the occasion of World Hand Hygiene Day, promoted by the World Health Organisation, the University of Genoa is organising the event "Hand hygiene: a life-saving action!" on 5 May 2026, in collaboration with the Policlinico San Martino Hospital.

The initiative will be at the Albergo dei Poveri and will involve healthcare workers, staff in training and prevention professionals, with the aim of raising awareness of the importance of hand hygiene in preventing care-related infections and combating antimicrobial resistance.
