The University of Genoa is taking part in “La fune azzurra – Italian sport across five continents”, the research project organised by the National Museum of Italian Emigration (MEI) and the Migrantes Foundation to document, for the first time, the role of sport in the migration experiences of Italians around the world.

The initiative involves a network of institutional, academic and sporting partners, including the University of Genoa, with the aim of collecting data, testimonies and stories through questionnaires aimed at various audiences: Italians living abroad, sports associations and clubs linked to Italian communities around the world, and young people who have recently immigrated to Italy.

The research aims to explore the role of sport as a means of promoting wellbeing, participation, integration and the maintenance of ties with the country of origin. The results will contribute to the organisation of events, documentaries and initiatives designed to promote the sporting heritage of Italian communities around the world.
