The Academic Senate of the University of Genoa, having endorsed the Rector's response to the signatories of the letter of 29 September 2025 (see attached):

  • expresses its firm condemnation and horror at the thousands of deaths and the inhuman conditions to which the Palestinian people are being forced to submit as a result of the military action decided by the Israeli government after the tragic events of 7 October 2023, on which it also expresses its firm condemnation of the atrocities committed. The reaction on the part of the government of Israel has exceeded the threshold of reasonableness and humanity and must end, as demanded at all European and international institutional levels;
  • .
  • strongly believes that international scientific collaboration is not only an engine of progress, but also a guardian of freedom. Sharing knowledge and results creates a network of transparency and trust that counteracts censorship and isolation. Science becomes a form of civil diplomacy that defends the free flow of ideas: every joint project is an act of civil resistance, because the freedom of research is the freedom of society;
  • Expresses its appreciation for the monitoring action, which has just begun, of research projects and collaborations with Italian and international companies in the defence industry, and undertakes to undertake an analysis of the results in order to oversee the full implementation of national, European and international standards in relation to dual-use discipline and research ethics.
  • The European Union is committed to the fight against terrorism, and to the fight against terrorism.

The Academic Senate is committed to:

  1. continue to promote and, where possible, increase the exchanges and mobility of students, students, researchers and lecturers from the areas affected by the current conflict;
  2. .
  3. implement specific actions to support and welcome female students, students, researchers and teachers coming from Palestine and other war zones;
  4. propose and promote opportunities for intercultural exchange and confrontation, in line with the University's founding principles and values, in order to foster dialogue and mutual understanding between the communities affected by the conflict and with a view to building shared paths of peace and coexistence;
