University of Genoa Chancellor Federico Delfino, Dean of the School of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences Piero Ruggeri and the entire academic community express their deep condolences on the passing of Sofia Sacchitelli and wish to express their sympathy to her loved ones at this time of great sorrow.

Sofia, a fifth-year Medicine and Chiururgy student, had founded the "Sofia in the Heart" Association with the goal of raising funds to finance research into her disease: cardiac angiosarcoma. In recognition of the social activity she had undertaken with commitment and altruism, she had been awarded the first gold medal of merit from the University of Genoa on March 9, 2023.
