The University of Genoa has 85 current researchers (out of a total of 91 including seniors) included in the top 2 percent ranking of the world's most cited scientists.

The ranking, compiled byStanford University and published in the journal Plos Biology, refers to 22 scientific areas and 176 subcategories and is the result of processing, using machine learning techniques, standardized and comparable citations across scientific areas referred to 8.6 million researchers from universities and research centers worldwide.

The number of UniGe researchers included in the ranking of 195,605 scientists in the top 2% of world research has doubled in the past 2 years.
