Traveling on a train at a thousand kilometers per hour inside a tube that eliminates friction. A futuristic project for passenger transport but closer, in terms of time and feasibility, for freight transport.

On the occasion of Expo Dubai, the Rector of the University of Genoa Federico Delfino, together with the Pro-Rector for Education Claudio Carmeli and the Pro-Rector for Internationalisation Fulvio Mastrogiovanni, met the managers of the innovation section of DP World, a multinational company operating in the transport and logistics sector, based in the United Arab Emirates but present almost everywhere in the world, which has acquired about 80% of the company that is developing the Virgin Hyperloop hyper-fast trains.

DP World is willing to build a pilot plant, small in size, for research and testing purposes on the freight part; the University of Genoa could be scientific partner of this initiative with a great demonstrative impact.

The idea is to identify a suitable site for the purpose in the port area of Genoa, given the strategic logistical importance of the city and its terminals for the sorting of goods in Europe.
