The term Dual Use identifies products and technologies which, although designed for civilian purposes, can be used for the manufacture, development or maintenance of chemical, biological or nuclear weapons.

The University of Genoa is a partner of RINA in drafting product evaluations, first for the Ministry of Economic Development and now for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
