Instructions for submitting the pre-assessment application on the UniGeApply portal

1. REGISTRATION
1. Register  to create UniGePass credentials (username and password). The username you will receive (example: S1234567) will be your student number (matricola). In case of inquiries or information, always report your student number. Warning: if you have already registered and have already obtained UniGePass credentials to access the Online Services of Unige DO NOT start a new registration procedure, use the username and password already in your possession.

Be careful to fill in the fields with the data exactly as shown on your passport. In the case of a compound last name (surname) and/or first name (given name), enter all last names and first names on your passport (do not use dashes and dots). Be careful not to reverse the last name field and the first name field. If one of the two fields is empty on the passport, fill in using an X. Compiling with error can cause a slowdown of the services offered.

2. ACCESS TO THE UNIGEAPPLY PORTAL
After creating your credentials, submit your application on the UniGeApply portal. Log in to the portal from this link , check the information on the start page and scroll down to the "submit a new application for A.Y. 2025/26" button and click to start. The pre-assessment phase is mandatory for students applying for a Master’s Degree in English.

3. HOW TO COMPLETE THE APPLICATION

  • Fill in all the mandatory sections and fields (marked with *) of the application and upload the required documents:
  • Choose the course/courses you want to apply for. N.B. You can apply for a maximum of TWO courses. To see only courses taught in English, select the language filter when submitting your application in the "courses" section.
  • Verify or enter your personal information and your degree. At least one university degree (Bachelor’s degree) is required.
  • Upload your passport and photo.
  • Depending on the course/course chosen loads the fundamental documents and those required by the course. Note: to make the list of required documents (mandatory and optional) appear you must select the course of interest, the list will appear in the "documents" section only after your choice.

  • Information on the bachelor’s degree used as a qualification for access to the selection of the master’s degree of interest. In the "further information" section, enter the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) and the University of origin related to your Bachelor’s degree. Please note that the list of universities of each country is not exhaustive. Start typing the first letters of your university name, if the university does not appear in the list, mark "other university not listed", this will not affect the selection. You will also see a drop-down menu where you can select the type of Bachelor’s degree you have (select one of the options, if there is no match between the title you have select "other" at the bottom of the list).
  • When you have finished your application, entering the required data and attaching the necessary documents, remember to save, by pressing on the "save" button. Warning: it is not possible to save the application in draft.

  • Warning: if the application was completed and saved correctly, the green word "Complete, pending evaluation" will appear at the end. In this case the application has been sent correctly and is awaiting evaluation. You will also receive a confirmation email.

    Always check to upload complete and readable documents. If one or more mandatory documents are not uploaded, it will not be possible to submit the application.

4. RECEIPT OF NOTIFICATIONS RELATING TO YOUR APPLICATION

  • If the Admissions Office or the commission of the course of studies should apply for integration, you will be notified by email and can access your application to update the documents. Remember, once you receive your integration request, you’ll have three weeks to complete the task.
  • When your application reaches the end of the evaluation process, you will receive a notification email with the outcome of the evaluation. By logging on to the portal, you will see your application in one of the following states:
    • Accepted. In this case you will see the green text "Complete (Accepted by commission)". You can also download a receipt indicating that you have passed the pre-selection and are eligible to enroll in the course. This receipt replaces the letter of acceptance no longer requested by the Embassy/Consulate;
    • Conditionally accepted (yellow sentence). You lack some curricular requirements that must be met before enrollment (e.g. you must take additional exams or an entrance test if the course has restricted access). Also in this case, you will be able to download a receipt stating your acceptance;
    • Rejected (red sentence). You do not have the course entry requirements. Given the high number of applications, no specific reasons for rejection will be provided. Please do not contact the Office, as you will not receive any reply.

NEXT STEP AFTER PRE-SELECTION (if successful): UNIVERSITALY
If your application has been accepted, or conditionally accepted, you can proceed to the pre-registration phase on the Universitaly website. Universitaly is used to submit the visa application procedure. The University will validate the application and send it to the Embassy/Consulate. The Universitaly portal is external to UniGe and you will have to upload all your documents again. If you are accepted for two courses, you will have to make a choice. At Universitaly you can apply for only one course of study. For more details on the documents to be uploaded, please see the receipt obtained during the pre-selection phase or our web page on pre-enrolment and enrolment of non-EU students (visa applicants) with a foreign qualification

After your application has been approved on Universitaly.it, you can move on to the pre-enrollment phase on Online services of UniGe. The opening of pre-enrollment usually takes place in April each year. The chosen course of studies must be the same as the one in the application submitted on Universitaly.it
Access the dedicated page with information on pre-enrolment and enrolment of non-EU students (visa applicants) with a foreign qualification
