PRESENTAZIONE

The course deals with HVAC for small pleasure yachts and sails

OBIETTIVI E CONTENUTI

OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI

The unit provides students with concepts of HVAC operating principles and relevant systems, with particular concern to the systems installed on the pleasure crafts.

OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI (DETTAGLIO) E RISULTATI DI APPRENDIMENTO

The students, practising with the calculation of the size of the components for a small climatization system, will develop the capability of looking critically at the projects for chiller and fan-coils systems, for small yachts.

Modalità didattiche

The educational activities are organized into 48 hours of theoretical classes.

Part of the course will deal with the preliminary design of a chiller & fan coils system for a small pleasure yacht or sail.

PROGRAMMA/CONTENUTO

Principle of cooling, inverse cycles. Psychometry and main transformation of humid air.
Thermal comfort: Ashrae 55 and ISO 7730. Heat and mass balance of building: evaluation of thermal loads.
Main configurations of AC plants: Split systems, Water systems, Air systems.

Part of the course will focus on the plants commonly employed on yachts.

The oral examination will be based on the discussion of the report about the preliminary design of a chiller & fan coils system for a small pleasure yacht or sail, which will be prepared by students.

Modalità di accertamento

The assessment of students' skill is based on their capability of explain and sustain the choices they made, about the preliminary design of the HVAC for a small pleasure yacht
