PRESENTAZIONE

The course is aimed at providing the know-how to understand, design and manage the main Internet applications. After a short revision of UDP and TCP protocols, the course will focus on ICMP, IGMP, BOOTP and DHCP, DNS, TELNET, FTP, SMTP, POP, IMAP, SNMP, and HTTP. A part of the course will be dedicated to multimedia Internet applications such as the VoIP protocol, and on public and private networks including the NAT solution, and to the principles of cloud computing.

OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI

Internet applications: revision of UDP and TCP protocols, ICMP, IGMP, BOOTP and DHCP, DNS, FTP, SMTP, POP, IMAP, SNMP, and HTTP. Multimedia Internet applications such as the VoIP protocol, concepts of public and private networks including the NAT solution.

OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI (DETTAGLIO) E RISULTATI DI APPRENDIMENTO

The lectures are aimed at providing theoretical and practical knowledge about the most important Internet applications. The aim is to provide details of each single analysed protocol so to allow a full comprehension and a future possible design of solutions acting at application layer. In detail: revision of UDP and TCP protocols, ICMP, IGMP, BOOTP and DHCP, DNS, TELNET, FTP, SMTP, POP, IMAP, SNMP, and HTTP. Multimedia Internet applications such as the VoIP protocol, concepts of public and private networks including the NAT solution. Principles of cloud computing.
