Thorough understang of the theoretical aspects of rigid body mechanics, as well as of their applications in selected circumstances.
AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
Working knowledge of the main techniques involved in the study of rigid body Statics and Dynamics, under the assumption of non-dissipative reactive forces.
Relative Kinematics: space and time absoluteness; Poisson formulae, transformation laws for velocities and accelerations.
Rigid motions: geometric e Kinematical characterization; Euler angles, angular speed.
Rigid body Statics: equilibrium equations; reactive forces.
Rigid body Dynamics: mechanical quantities; moments of inerzia, tensor of inerzia; cardinal equations, energy theorem, reactive forces; examples.
