OVERVIEW

During the Ship Propulsion Plants module the operating principles of marine propulsion for different types of ships will be presented, with particular attention to the aspects related to dynamics and control. Both the theoretical / methodological and practical aspects will be illustrated, with particular emphasis on advanced design and numerical / implementation aspects.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course will cover the following topics: Engine-propeller matching for design and off design conditions, Combined propulsion plant, Marine waterjets performance maps, Selection criteria of the waterjet propulsion unit, Automation outline for propulsion systems with CP propellers and waterjets.
