COMPOSITE MATERIALS FOR BIO-MEDICAL APPLICATIONS
OVERVIEW
Natural tissues are composite materials. The Course will drive the students through the artificial composite materials used for bioapplications, either as external either as internal prosthesis
AIMS AND CONTENT
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Provide to students the capability to manage new material items based upon an engineering point of view focused on the device instead of the pure material. Continuous comparative analysis between the scientists and industrial viewpoints will be performed in classroom
AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
The Course is intended to introduce to the students the complexity of anisotropic composite materials both for external and internal prosthesis. The dependence from the inner structure will be defined and related to mechanical, electrical and fucntional properties. Artificial composite materials for external prosthesis as Carbon Fiber will be deeply introduced, showing their nano-micro-macro nature, the way to produce them as well their chemical and physical features.
In the second part of the Course material for internal prosthesis, scaffolds and Tissue Engineering will be introduced and deeply studied, accordingly to the main productive technologies as Additivite Manufacturing, Elettrospinning and Bioreactors.
Biontegration, Biodegradability, Bioasorption and many of the guest-prosthesis interactons features will be debated in classroom.
