OVERVIEW

The course aims at introducing students to the main issues of organizational design, human resources management and organizational behavior with regard to shipping and logistics companies

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide students with the fundamentale theoretical - interpretative keys and the basic tools for analyzing organizational dynamics, human resources management and organizational behavior in maritime transport companies.

PREREQUISITES

No prerequistes are requested, excluding business fundamentals

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course is organized into two parts. The first is focused on 

  • Aims and methods of organizational analysis
  • Design choice and organizational architectures
  • Organizational culture and cultural diversity
  • Organizational change

The second on

  • Human resources management: issues, processes and tools
  • People in organizations: job and role
  • Organizational knowledge and internal communication
  • Motivation and organizational performance
  • Leadership and teamwork

Exam description

The exam is written; it consiste in 3 open questions, time: 45 minutes

Assessment methods

The appropriateness of the answers, the clarity, and the ability to summarize will be evaluated
