OVERVIEW

The goal of this course is to expose students to the scientific method and good clinical practice (GCP), and to introduce concepts of medical statistics, which constitutes the basis to be able to read and discuss the scientific literature, participate to the scientific debate, and design and conduct a clinical study.

The goal of this course is to expose students to the scientific method and good clinical practice (GCP), and to introduce concepts of medical statistics, scientific writing and dissemination of scientific results. Learning outcomes include the ability to read and discuss the scientific literature, participate to the scientific debate, and design and conduct a clinical study.

  • The scientific method, including motivation, history and examples;
  • Clinical research protocols and study designs;
  • Concepts of medical statistics;
  • Data presentation and interpretation;
  • The good clinical practice (GCP);
  • Analysis and discussion of scientific publications.

Provided during the class and shared on Aulaweb. Additional textbooks might be suggested during the class to delve further into specific topics.
