OVERVIEW

The teaching is part of the Master Degree Course in Primary Education Sciences (24 hours, 4 ECTS). Through the reading of some main works of Italian literature we will study themes, styles and communication strategies of the literary texts focused on the educational skills of the Italian literature.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The main objective of the course is a focused analysis of those aspects and topics in the Italian literary production that best suit the specifities of Primary Education. Literature will be analyzed and presented as a privileged reflection of society, as a projection of the human condition, with special reference to the world of childhood, of maternity, of the feminine, in the complex interweaving of historic reality, sealed by the added value of artistic transfiguration. The course aims also to educate students to read the literature in a training perspective and to provide adequate tools through which the students can design learning paths for Primary School.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Further objectives are: to educate students to the reading, the analysis and the interpretation of the Italian literary texts and to their historical and cultural heritage; to provide an adequate knowledge through which the students can design learning paths for primary school.

Knowledge and understanding: Through lectures, guided analysis, and class discussions students will learn the most important methods in textual analysis of a literary text and to achieve the ability to understand critical texts related to the literary work considered.

Applying knowledge and understanding: Through independent perusal of literary texts and translations, the student is able to apply the analytical skills previously achieved, so to identify both structural aspects of the analyzed text, and the relationship of the text and the cultural and historical context in which it was produced.

Making autonomous judgments: Through an oral presentation student is able to understand, critically discuss and explain the specific literary characteristic of the text.

Communication skills: Final oral discussion improve the skill in presenting analysis results in an efficient and synthetic way; they also allow students to communicate the concepts learned, with an appropriate language, and to hold a discussion on the topics dealt with in class.
