SMART AND SAFE LOGISTICS
OVERVIEW
The smart and safe logistics course provides some specialized skills on logistic and freight transport systems, with a particular focus on automated transport systems. The course is very practical and the objectives include the acquisition of skills in the use of simulation softwares. During the course, safe and security issues in logistic and transportation systems are also addressed with particular reference to the transport of dangerous goods.
AIMS AND CONTENT
LEARNING OUTCOMES
The aim of the course is providing the basic knowledge of smart intermodal and automated transport systems and of the relevant technologies. In particular, the methodologies for performance estimation and optimization, both in passenger and freight transport will be provided.
AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course the student has acquired a set of notions for the analysis and management of smart and automated logistic and transport systems. The course takes place in the transportation systems engineering lab; this allows the student to acquire - live during the lesson - significant skills in the use of simulation softwares and other software tools.
PREREQUISITES
No specific prerequisite is required.
Teaching methods
The course takes place in the transportation systems engineering lab. During the lessons, the professor shows slides (which are made available to the students through Aulaweb, in general before the lesson) on the various topics of the course. In the part relevant to the simulation models for logistics, the professor show some softwares that can be used at the same time also by the students.

EXAMS
Exam description
The exam consists of a practical test that takes place in the transportation systems engineering lab and an oral discussion.
Assessment methods
The student's assessment is carried out through a practical test in which the student is asked to use and possibly modify some models of logistic systems. The student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired a sufficient knowledge of the topics illustrated in class and that he/she is able to use the tools for analysis and management of logistic systems.
