OVERVIEW
The choice of a theme, in this case landscape and its relations with figures, offers the opportunity to assess expressive methods and compositional models and to read the different solutions in relation to society and contemporary culture.
AIMS AND CONTENT
LEARNING OUTCOMES
To give tools and knowledge for analysis of artefacts, purchaser-artist issues, historical-artistic themes in general in the framework of cultural relations and European society in the modern era.
AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
The analysis of different solutions elaborated in the modern era enables students to consider the issue of depicting landscape and nature as a cultural experience readable in every era. A comparison with similar experiences in contemporary society is also proposed.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT
Programme for students taking the course for 6 cfu
Landscape and figures in artistic depiction between the 16th and 19th century in Europe. In different cultural contexts in Italy and Europe, modes of construction of the relationship between the human image and the natural context will be analysed in the virtual scenario of the artistic image.
Students who attend must be able to discuss the themes tackled beginning with images presented in powerpoint presentations and resumptive cues of topics tackled, kept together in a folder supplied at the end of the course.

Assessment methods
Students will be deemed to have passed the exam if they demonstrate the capacity acquired in lectures and in readings to correctly place artistic production considered in the correct period and cultural context. Students who demonstrate the capacity to grasp critical aspects and cultural connections between themes tackled during the course and discussed in the recommended texts will obtain higher evaluations.
