AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the training is:
- provide the students with the basics in the field of theatrical and graphic mediation techniques for rehabilitation purposes;
- provide students with a general understanding of skills related to verbal and non-verbal communication;
- introduce issues related to art therapies and theatrical mediation tools in the helping relationship;
- make students acquire skills of listening and observation through artistic mediation;
- develop in students the ability to interact as observers and conductors in workshop settings.

EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS:
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
Know the origin and history of the Arts therapies, the main theoretical reference models and the fields of application;
Know the origin of the application of Psychodrama, Social Theatre, Integrated Theatre;
Know the different possible workshops of theatrical animation and the main expressive graphic techniques and their peculiar applications with psychiatric patients;
Recognize and distinguish the therapeutic and rehabilitation area from the socio-pedagogical area;
Recognize the formative differences necessary for the different areas; Distinguish application contexts and purposes in relation to the different types of intervention studied;
Practice observation and express opinions with respect to the works presented in class (video and paper documents);
Hypothesize correlations between the artistic process and the therapeutic process and between expressive potential and rehabilitation objectives;
Use specific terminology in a correct way;
Collect data by observation, material cataloging and application of observation grids.

Teaching methods

The lessons are frontal, with interactive and participatory modalities so that the students can correlate experiences with theory. Personal storytelling, class confrontation and brain storming are used for this purpose.
The workshop setting will be proposed to the students with the method of “learning by doing”.
The program will be supported by watching videos, interviews and testimonies of patient actors.
