AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

A complex of knowledge which allows to employ the main mathematical tools for numerical calculation, the treatment and the analysis of the experimental data, the interpretation and the formulation of models in the mathematical-physical key.

Teaching methods

Lectures (50 hours)  

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

  1. Approximation of functions in a normed space
  2. Numerical differentiation and integration
  3. Numerical methods for solving ordinary differential equations
  4. Systems of linear algebraic equations: compatibility, least-squares solutions
  5. Singular value decomposition of a matrix (SVD) and applications
  6. Variational calculus and applications

       7. Support vector machines for classification and regression
