OVERVIEW

This course aims to develop awareness on the part of the students with regard to the grammatical structures of complex sentence and its meaning, and to the interclausal connection at grammatical and textual levels.

 

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Aim of the course is to enhance the students' awareness about the structure and functions of complex sentences and their meanings in both L1 and L2.

Interclausal connection and its linguistic means

a) Grammatical strategies and textual strategies
complex sentence (coordination and subordination), and juxtaposition

b) Coding and inference

c) A case study: the expression of purpose
d) Communicative perspective in the complex sentence

Oral exam with the aim of assessing the student's ability to expose subjects of grammar and semantics in a coherent form. One subject will be chosen by the student, the others will be proposed by the Professor.
