OVERVIEW

The class aims to illustrate some of the basic concepts of nuclear physics and of ionizing radiation and  to describe some non-destructive  techniques for  compositional analysis of  materials that derive from this field of physics. Energy production by nuclear fission/fusion as well as radiocarbon dating will be also addresssed

EXAMS

Exam description

The exam is given as a written test with 8 simple exercizes/problems to be solved within a maximum time of 2 hours. The use of books, notes of any other didactic material is not allowed.

The full collection of past exames can be found in https://www.ge.infn.it/~prati/Fisica%20applicata%20per%20scienze%20dei%20materiali/FisAppl.htm

The minimum score is 18 out of 30.

Assessment methods

the questions of the written test are formulated in order to verify the student's level of understanding of the most important concepts discussed in the class and which are at the basis of the application of nuclear physics and ionizing radiation in various fields.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Please, refer to the past exame tests ( https://www.ge.infn.it/~prati/Fisica%20applicata%20per%20scienze%20dei%20materiali/FisAppl.htm) to have a clear idea of the level of complexity of the final exame
