OVERVIEW

The course aims to investigate how the world has become global, especially in the modern age, and how the connections between the different continents were born from the medieval exploratory trips to the age of globalization. In addition, the key elements and sources of global history will be analyzed.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to introduce the student to the study of global history: on the one hand by introducing and analyzing the concepts and themes that characterize it in today's historiographic panorama; on the other hand by providing methodological tools for those who study the history of different parts of the world and how these connect on the economic, cultural and religious levels, with particular reference to the modern age and the first globalization.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

See previous field. At the end of the course students are expected to know the general features of Global History and the sources that characterize it.

PREREQUISITES

Good knowledge of the general history between the Middle Ages and the modern age.

Frontal lessons.

Oral.

Assessment methods

During the examination, which will be held orally, the candidates will be proposed for examination one or more specific topics contained in the texts indicated. The examiner will be asked to illustrate these topics with a critical spirit, in a correct and articulated way, and using appropriate language; his or her ability to establish significant links with other topics dealt with in the same text or dealt with during the lessons will also be verified.
