OVERVIEW

The course is aimed at presenting current CFD methods for fluid-machinery and industrial applications. The student will learn the basic numerical tecniques that form the backbone of commercial packages for CFD applications and will develop a critical attitude toward the use of the above technology, already widely used in industry for product design and development.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course is organised with the following topics:

• governing equations and boundary conditions;
• discretisation methods and numerical schemes;
• CFD techniques for compressible and incompressible flows;
• introduction to turbulence modeling;
• grid generation methods;
• complex flow models (reactive, multicomponent, multiphase flows);
• CFD applications to fluid machinery analysis;
• CFD applications to industrial flow problems.
