AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims at providing the student with knowledge about the mechanical behaviour of biological tissues at various spatial scales, from the whole organ to the cell.

 

Teaching methods

Lectures and practicals.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

General properties of biological tissues and poroelasticity. Models of the mechanical behaviour of biological tissues based on their physiology. Cellular Homeostasis: ion and water transport across cell membranes, control of cell volume.
