Pesticides: classification and tolerance limits. Natural pesticides: nicotine, rotenone, pyrethrins. Synthetic pesticides: pyrethroid, organophosphorous, organochlorinated and carbamate pesticides. Herbicides: phenoxyacetic, triazine and bipyridine herbicides. Surfactants: classification and properties in aqueous solution. Anionic, cationic, zwitterionic and non-ionic surfactants. Builders and fillers in the production of detergents.
Dyes: classification according to chemical structure and dying method (dyes for textile fibers). Synthesis and application of the principal classes of dyes (azo dyes, polymethine dyes, tri- and di- diphenylmethine dyes, azaannulene dyes, carbonyl dyes, sulfur dyes, nitro and nitroso dyes, fluorescent brighteners). Organic synthesis concepts applied to the preparation of the most common synthetic and artificial polymers: vinyl polymerization (free radical, cationic, anionic), synthesis of polyurethanes, polycarbonates, phenol-formaldheydes resins, polyesthers, epoxy resins, nylon, aramides and silicon polymers, synthesis of carbohydrate derived polymers.
