AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The goal of the modulus concerning materials is to provide the students with the basic knowledge of the behaviour of materials used in industrial plants. The main joining processes of these materials are analyzed.

 

The “plants” subject module provides the students with the more advanced design methodologies specifically devoted to industrial process that involve high thermal and mechanical stress.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The goal of the modulus concerning materials is to provide the students with the basic knowledge of the behavior of metallic materials (galvanized steels, stainless steels, titanium alloys and nickel alloys) used in industrial plants. The main joining processes of these materials are analyzed.

 

Directive PED (97/23/CE) is also described with particular application to Group 1 (oil, natural gas) and Group 2 (overheated water, saturated and overheated steam) fluid involving plants. P&I and functional schemas are presented and discussed as well as decompression substations, regulating station and safety equipments. Test criteria, pipe racks and other constraints are also presented.
